Glen Campbell cancels tour over Alzheimer’s; new album revisits old hits, Glen Campbell’s Alzheimer’s disease has progressed so far that the singer has to stop his music tour. Campbell, who spent his 77th birthday Monday advocating for Alzheimer’s disease funding, still plans to release an album this summer, The Associated Press reported April 22.Glen Campbell’s new album, “See You There,” from record company Surfdog, is set to be released July 30. Campbell’s new album features Campbell singing new renditions of some old favorites, including “Rhinestone Cowboy,” “Galveston,” "True Grit" and "Gentle on My Mind...reported..examiner.Campbell was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease nearly two years ago. Because of Alzheimer’s, a progressive dementia disorder, Campbell can no longer recall some of his fondest memories as an entertainment icon — his lifetime achievements include being a pop music star, a groundbreaking session musician, an actor, and a host of his own television variety show, “The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour” which ran on CBS from 1969 to 1972.Campbell performed at the Grammy Awards ceremony in 2012 and completed a farewell "Goodbye Tour" last November.On Monday, Glen Campbell was in Washington, D.C., to press for Alzheimer's disease research funding.Campbell’s fans have been paying him tributes.“Millions are blessed by your gift of music, the wonderful voice,” one fan wrote on the official Glen Campbell website.Campbell’s wife, Kim Campbell, says her husband can occasionally lay down vocal tracks in the studio. But while Campbell remains physically healthy — he still plays golf on occasion — recording is getting more and more difficult, his wife said.
